Funsua Waste Evacuation Exercise Improves Environmental Sanitation

The Sekyere Afram Plains District Assembly, through its Environmental Health Unit, undertook a waste evacuation exercise at Funsua from 14th to 17th February 2026 as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and safeguard public health in the community. The exercise was aimed at removing accumulated refuse from the Funsua dumping site and promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.

Before the commencement of the exercise, waste dumping points within the community were identified to facilitate effective planning and implementation. Heavy-duty equipment, including a payloader, tipper truck and backhoe, was deployed to gather, load and transport large volumes of refuse from the dumping site to an approved disposal location.

Over the four-day operation, accumulated waste was successfully evacuated, significantly improving sanitation conditions in the community. The exercise reduced the risk of environmental pollution and the spread of diseases associated with poor waste management while restoring the appearance of the affected area. Photographs captured before and after the exercise clearly demonstrate the transformation of the refuse dump site following the clean-up operation.
